PTO
Mission Statement
"PTO is a partnership between staff and families to serve together to enhance and maximize the educational potential of every child."What is PTO?
PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization. We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, and assist efforts to solve school needs through volunteers and funding. All parents and other family members are encouraged to participate in PTO activities thoughout the year, even if unable to attend the monthly meetings.PTO activities happen every day at RMS with the parents who volunteer in and out of school. Preparing special events for staff appreciation, making copies, and hosting fundraising events are just a few examples of PTO activities.
President's Message
Thank you to all the parents who donated their valuable time, donated cookies, bottled water, apples , baked goods, delicious sweets etc. the list is long. The words “Thank You” do not seem sufficient enough to express our gratitude for all your contributions throughout this school year. We literarily could not have done it with out all of you!
We successfully performed the RMS Hearing /Vision Screening, Scoliosis/ BMI Screening and helped with the H1N1 Vaccine process. We assisted in the Zone Meeting and Parent Nights that RMS hosted. Both of our BB&B Events were successful. We raised $7,100.00 from the Fall BB&B and $7,200.00 from the Spring BB&B. All money raised went to school technology (computer batteries, LCD Projectors and computer memory). We hosted the Welcome Back Teacher Breakfast, Staff Holiday Luncheon, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, and supplied Wal-Mart Gift Cards to every teacher at the beginning of the school year. We donated to our Guidance Department, Science Department, Janitorial Department and Band. Christine Emond, her son Matthew and Mrs. Kohler revamped our RMS Web Site and brought it into the 21st Century. By all accounts we had a very successful year.
Our challenge for next year will be to raise more money in spite of our declining economy. We all have heard of the budget issues our school district is encountering. Our students will be impacted directly during the 2010~2011 school year. We, collectively the administration, teachers, students and PTO, need your assistance this coming school year. Please consider donating your time whenever you can. You will find a list of “Dates to Remember” on the RMS Web Site/PTO page. Please review this list frequently and see if you can donate your time at any of the events. Please listen to the phone links that are made sometimes weekly. They contain important information regarding your student. Please remember to get your NO HASSLE FUND RAISER packet at Schedule Pick Up and return it to PTO as soon as you can.
The GREAT MYTH OF MIDDLE SCHOOL is that the Administration and Students do not want their parents involved. That is so UNTRUE. They need you more in middle school then they did in elementary school. Check our RMS Web Site to see for “Volunteer Extra Credit” program.
Thank you again, you DID make a difference.
